Description

QUICKMAP is a compact database and navigation tool for integration of CEPH-Généthon data. This package has been available by anonymous ftp on ceph-genethon-map.cephb.fr site since Feb 7, 1994 (version 1.0). It is composed of:

a compact database (7 megabytes), containing CEPH-Généthon mapping data:
- sizes of 35,000 YACs
- STS screening data about all AFM markers of 1994 Généthon genetic map, together with public STS screening data
- Alu-PCR hybridization data for 6915 probes
- L1/THE fingerprint data for 35,000 YACs
- FISH data for 437 YACs
a navigation tool, which calculates and displays dynamically on the screen (or on a printer) local contigs and routes between STSs, as desribed in the following publication:

In these routes, you can see all Alu-PCR and fingerprint relation between adjacent clones, together with STS and sizing data. This navigation tool also contains infoclone, a query program wich retrieves exhaustive information about a YAC or an STS in a text format.

The current version of QUICKMAP is 2.0.

Requirements

This package is running on Sun UNIX stations (SunOS 4.1.3 or Solaris 2.x) and X11R4 or X11R5. The programs are quick and do not take much memory, so they can run on the smallest Sun station. If you run these programs from an X-terminal, we advise you to have 8 Megabytes of memory on your terminal.
